The pompia, one of the rarest citrus fruits in Italy, is widespread in Sardinia and cultivated in the countryside around Siniscola and surrounding towns. The plant is characterized by a small tree with thorny, vertical branches. The fruit is among the largest citrus fruits known, averaging 700 grams. The pulp is not very juicy and is particularly acidic. The peel, or rather, the pith, the white part under the rind, is widely used. The pompia is primarily used in desserts and liqueurs.
