Nursery Certifications and Quality Standards
Guaranteed genetic and phytosanitary excellence for every supply
For the production, movement, and marketing of fruit plant propagating material and fruit plants within the European Union, current phytosanitary regulations establish three categories of qualification for plant materials:
- Conformitas Agraria Communitatis (CAC)
- EU Voluntary Certification
- National Voluntary Certification (QVI – Qualità Vivaistica Italia)
The CAC represents the minimum mandatory phytosanitary requirements for the movement and trade of plant material. In contrast, the two voluntary certification levels impose stricter requirements regarding the production site, soil, facilities, varietal authenticity, self-monitoring, and laboratory analysis. These measures are designed to guarantee the production of material that is strictly controlled from both a phytosanitary and genetic standpoint.
Certification can be defined as a production process, governed by national regulations, that allows for the cultivation of superior quality plants with verified genetic characteristics and guaranteed health status.
The certification of fruit plant propagating material is regulated by Legislative Decree no. 18 of February 2, 2021, and subsequent amendments.

In addition to phytosanitary qualifications, Vivai Squadrito was among the first production companies to achieve European Union Organic Certification.
