FRANTOIO

This variety is particularly widespread in Tuscany, though it is also found in varying percentages in other regions of Italy. The plant is of medium vigor. The foliage is dense and lush. The leaves, lanceolate in shape, are medium in size, shiny green on the upper surface and gray-green on the underside. Ovary abortion does not exceed 10%. The fruit, elongated-ovoid in shape, is medium in size, weighing approximately 2 g. The color of the fruit ranges from yellow-purple pink at the beginning of the harvest to wine-red toward full maturity. The variety is self-fertile and generally has a high and consistent productivity. It produces an excellent oil, green in color and with a fruity flavor. The yield is around 23%. It is moderately sensitive to cold and plant pests. In our area, it is well represented in new plantings.
