OTTOBRATICA

The "Ottobratica" olive variety is unique to the Province of Reggio Calabria; these trees are widespread in the Gioia Tauro plain and the surrounding hilly and foothill areas. It is called "Ottobratica" because of the ideal ripening of the fruit, which occurs in October. The recommended harvest time for these olives is the drupe's veraison, i.e., the beginning of the fruit's ripening.
