The Sorrento femminiello, also known as the "Oval Sorrento" lemon (referring to the fruit's oval shape) and the "Massa lemon" (referring to another municipality on the peninsula where it is grown), is medium-large in size (each lemon weighs no less than 85 grams), has straw-yellow flesh with highly acidic juice (which differentiates it from the moderately acidic juice of the Amalfi lemon) and is rich in vitamin C. The rind is medium thick and very fragrant due to the rich presence of essential oils, and is a citrine yellow in color.
